Foundation Stage
(Pre-school and Reception)
Our setting is accredited by Lancashire County Council as an ‘Eligible Provider of Nursery Education’. As such, the government nursery education grant is available for children in our setting aged between 3½ and 5 years old. Further information is contained in ‘A Parent Guide’ (Sure Start Early Years and Childcare Service) which is available on request from the school office.
We offer play based learning with a high ratio of staff, ensuring children play in a safe, caring environment. Christian values are at the heart of their learning.
Continuous play provision and quality resources provide opportunities for:
- Role play
- Sand, water, tactile & creative play
- Small World
- Construction… and more!
Routines such as, snack-times and ‘Circle Time’ help social and language development; whilst themed activities such as ‘Springtime,’ provide understanding of God’s wide & wonderful world!
A successful blend of learning and play experiences caters for both nursery and reception age children together.
We use a dynamic Christian scheme for introducing early reading and writing skills. Animal characters, rhyming songs and movement are a lively start to letter learning, whilst key words are presented through bright, engaging reading books.
Games & activities also help to teach number concepts to our young, energetic learners.
Family values are an important part of our early learning.
We respect our parents as partners in nurturing their child’s spiritual & learning journey.
