Infants Department (KS1)

Our infants continue to progress through the A.C.E. Christian phonics programme. Other sessions of Speaking & Listening, Literacy and Maths deliver well-balanced learning broadly following the National Curriculum.

Children read to the teacher or teaching assistant from carefully selected reading schemes.

Parents are invited to listen to their children read at home.

As an independent school we are able to offer a flexible approach to learning that allows the teacher to nurture each child’s abilities and skills.

Numeracy sessions build on the Maths programme begun in the Reception year helping children gain a solid mathematical foundation.

Literacy and Numeracy programmes lead to informal assessments towards the end of Year 2.

In the afternoon, the Infant and Reception children join together for themed activities including science, craft work and computer learning.

P.E. & Swimming are weekly events.

Small class sizes enable a high level of support from the teacher. Children of all abilities are able to succeed & grow in confidence.
