Junior Department (KS2)
The Junior children follow a simple timetable. The class teacher provides Literacy, Maths and other curriculum learning broadly following National strategies. A wide range of resources are used to deliver a well-balanced curriculum.
Individual reading sessions with a teacher or teaching assistant continue through the junior years.
The small class groups enable a high level of support from the teacher with opportunity for some children to remain within a year group or ‘fast-track’, as their ability and maturity dictates.
Assessments towards the end of Year 6 are part of the ongoing care and attention given to pupils’ development.
In the afternoon, lessons based on themes such as ‘The Victorians,’ draw together subject areas of History, Geography, Craft, Design & Technology (CDT and Art).
P.E., Swimming and Music are weekly events for all junior year groups, along with ‘Circle Time’ involving children in discussing difficult everyday situations.
Children are encouraged to respect, pray and care for one another.
